CPR, First Aid, and Basic Life Support Training
CPR, First Aid, and BLS courses are offered through CCC's Workforce and Professional Development program. They do not carry academic credit. However, BLS certification is a required prerequisite for several CCC credit-bearing programs including EMS 131 Emergency Medical Technician and NUR 110 Nursing Assistant I.
Program Options
CCC offers two AHA certification courses to serve different audiences. Both are delivered in a blended format: complete the online coursework at your own pace, then attend an in-person skills testing session to earn your certification.
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
Cost: $60
The BLS Provider course is designed for healthcare professionals and students entering medical programs. It covers CPR and AED use for infants, children, and adults and does not include First Aid content.
This course fulfills the CPR prerequisite for the following CCC programs:
- EMS 131: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- NUR 110: Nursing Assistant I
This course is appropriate for EMTs, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), medical assistants, nurses, physicians, dentists, other healthcare providers, and students. All AHA certifications are valid for two years. Students receive an AHA e-card upon successful completion.
AHA Heartsaver Total First Aid, CPR, and AED
Cost: $105
The Heartsaver course is designed for anyone who needs comprehensive First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, including workplace first responders and community members. It covers CPR and AED use for infants, children, and adults and includes a full First Aid component covering 32 modules. This course meets the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) approved workplace training requirements.
All AHA certifications are valid for two years. Students receive an AHA e-card upon successful completion.
How the hybrid Format Works
Both courses use a blended delivery format:
- Register for your course through CCC’s course registration system.
- After registering, you will receive an AHA online access key code by email.
- Complete the online coursework modules at your own pace.
- At the end of the online course, you will receive a completion certificate.
- Bring your completion certificate to the scheduled in-person skills testing session.
- Complete the skills test with the instructor.
- Receive your AHA e-card certification upon successful completion.
